PremiereVanities.com is an online retailer which markets every single
type of bathroom vanity under the sun. Customers of
PremiereVanities.com gain access to a much larger selection of both
single and double vanities than they would find at other online
websites and also other brick and mortar stores. Additionally,
PremiereVanities.com deals directly with manufacturers so the prices
for their vanities are significantly lower than traditional
retailers.
PremiereVanities.com thought long and hard about how to bring a
large selection of product to their customers without overwhelming
them with multiple product categories and other products.
Which is why when they developed the online store, they concentrated
on one simple product category. Rather than multiple product
categories.
In November 2006, the company approached ThinkBig about moving out
of their existing cart system which was hosted by Monster Commerce
and moving into the ThinkBig Commerce shopping cart system.
Challenge
PremiereVanities.com and the shopping cart system they started out
in was limited in functionality and abilities. Specifically,
the cart system did not have any customized controls for title tags
and meta tags at the category, sub-category, and individual product
page levels. Because of this, the site itself was suffering
from not being able to implement a proper search engine marketing
campaign. PremiereVanities.com also needed to integrate their
shopping cart system into their external order processing software
system. This was also proving to be a problem with the current
shopping cart system as well.
Results
ThinkBig started the project by first analyzing all of the current
issues one by one. The current cart system was studied,
migration plans were drawn out, and overall requirements and
deliverables were documented. Each step to moving
PremiereVanities.com out of their current cart system and into the
new ThinkBig Commerce product were carefully thought out
systematically by the ThinkBig project management team assigned to
the account.
"The first order of business was to deploy the new instance of the
cart system on our development servers," says Nitin Raj. Once
the development environment had been provisioned, ThinkBig
developers started to integrate PremiereVanities.com's payment
gateway, SSL certificates, and newly redesigned front-end.
"We finished the backend and front end changes which the client
requested and then we started testing the system and making sure all
components and features were working properly," Nitin recalls.
The entire project took ThinkBig around 10 days to complete. The
environment was then handed over to PremiereVanities.com management
who started the process of implementing the vanity categories,
products and content.
